A man in Solomon Islands has been charged with attempted murder after assistance mission police came under fire in the capital.
A 32-year old man has been charged in relation to shots fired at a participating police force vehicle in Honiara in October.

"John Ross who handed himself into police has been charged with two counts of attempted murder in relation to the shooting of a participating police force vehicle in October. He also faces charges of robbery, larceny, malicious damage and escaping lawful custody. Another two suspects in relation to the shooting incident and robbery are being sought by police."
The commander of the participating police force Sandi Peisley said the shooting incident resulted in a male driver, a PPF officer, receiving injuries from shattered glass, whilst the female passenger, also a PPF officer, was uninjured.
Miss Peisley says it was a very serious incident, and the police will continue with the investigations until all suspects have been charged. Ross will appear in court in two weeks' time.
