Fiji's CEO for labour sacked, immigration director demoted

The chief executive of Fiji's labour ministry, Brian Singh, has been sacked.

The public service commission took the action after finding Mr Singh guilty of all 19 charges against him.

The charges relate to Mr Singh's official travel overseas when the government paid for business class travel but Mr Singh travelled by economy and the travel agent gave the difference to Mr Singh personally.

Fiji's former minister for multi-ethnic affairs, George Shiu Raj, who was forced to resign two months ago, remains under police investigation for a similar offence.
