Court holiday in American Samoa means longer time in police cells

Those who have been arrested in American Samoa since Christmas Eve onwards still have another day to spend behind bars.

The next sitting of the District Court is not until tomorrow.

Both the District Court and High Court closed on Christmas Eve and those arrested and not given bail have had to spend their holidays inside the Tafuna Correctional Facility.

A crackdown on those driving under the influence of alcohol ended this morning.

The previous weekend more than twenty people were arrested
