Suva High Court nullifies tender award

11:21 am on 18 January 2005

The Suva High Court has nullified a decision to take away the Public Service Broadcasting contract from state-owned Radio Fiji and award it to private operator, Communications Fiji Limited.

The government's Major Tenders Board made the decision in December 2003, but Radio Fiji challenged it in court.

The Fiji Times reports that Justice Filimoni Jitoko agreed with arguments by Radio Fiji that there were procedural flaws in the award of the tender.

Justice Jitoko has revoked the board's decision and ordered that fresh tenders be called.
