Taiwanese President ends trip to Solomons today

The Taiwanese President, Chen Shui-Bian, is set to leave Solomon Islands today after a three-day inspection of Taiwanese agricultural and hospital aid projects.

The Visiting President of the Republic of China, Chen Shui-bian, has said Taiwan will continue to play an active and constructive role in the process of construction and development in Solomon Islands.

Mr Chen's delegation includes the Foreign Minister Chen Tan-San and 68 other high-ranking officials.

Taiwan has been an important aid donor to the Solomons government since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1983.

Mr Chen is due to fly to Brisbane this afternoon.
