A large earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale was recorded off the coast of Vanuatu today, but no tsunami was recorded.
Australian scientific authorities say the tremor occurred at 1.47am local time about 400km north-northwest of Port Vila.
There have been no reports of damage or injury.
