5:06 am on 26 February 2005

A Fijian worker in Iraq is reported to have fought off four attacking insurgents and delivered them to a local police station.

Fiji TV reports that 46-year old Rakai Segatamani was attacked as he crossed the border from Kuwait to Iraq with his supply truck early on Friday morning.

He was hit with the butt of an AK-47 assault rifle as the insurgents tried to seize his truck.

The report says Mr Segatamani took on the insurgents, managed to subdue them and drove them to the nearest police station where they were arrested.

Mr Segatamani is now recovering from his injuries in a hospital.
