Police in American Samoa are investigating a firearms incident at Samoana High School in which a student threatened a teacher with a gun.
The incident occurred early this month, when the student had a disagreement with one of his teachers and pulled out a .38mm pistol and fired it in the air, in class.
He then ran off, heading for the mai road, but police captured him and found a gun and marijuana joints in his pockets.
Eyewitnesses say the student was playing with the gun on campus earlier in the day.
He allegedly joked around with other students and even put the gun under another student's arm, took out the bullets and showed them to other students.
Assistant Attorney General Frederick J. O'Brien said yesterday that the investigation is still ongoing.
