Villagers from a small island in the Fiji group have reported finding a sunken yacht with its crew missing.

The Daily Post says the villagers from Yanuca Island near Taveuni made the discovery while diving for beche-de-mer.

The yacht, TICO TICO, is registered in Denmark and belongs to the Danish Ocean Cruising Association.

The villagers have reported finding three Danish passports aboard but there was no sign of the crew.

Fiji police have sent a team of divers to investigate the find.

Fiji Navy sources says the yacht was reported missing in June last year.
