A would-be tourist operator in Solomon Islands says he's satisfied all the requirements to buy Kennedy Island for 963 US dollars.

The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation reports Joseph Douglas as saying the purchase price was agreed after a government assessment.

The Western Solomon Tourist Association has filed a court action against the planned purchase.

Mr Douglas says the legal action is a bad sign for tourism in the province.

He says the value and the sale was facilitated by the Lands Department which holds perpetual title over the island.

Mr Douglas says the environment of the island won't be disturbed.
