Five former government employees in Fiji have been implicated in an alleged fraud in the Agriculture ministry which cost the country over 18 million U.S. dollars.

Police spokeswoman, Unaisi Vuniwaqa, says the files of the suspects have been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions office.

The Police Commissioner, Andrew Hughes, is confident enough evidence has been gathered to charge the suspects.

Police have already charged two people, a Suva pastor and a businessman, in December in relation to the scam.

Their case has been referred to the High Court.

The agricultural scam was where certain businesses profited from the sale of boats, implements and engines at inflated prices.
