Authorities in the Northern Marianas are closely monitoring a violent eruption at Anatahan volcano which sent a high plume of ash south east of the island chain.
Ash has been reported falling over Guam and skies darkened over Saipan yesterday.
A volcanic ash advisory remains in effect for Guam, but the international airport is open.
