Scientists, amateur astronomers and ship passengers in the Pitcairn Islands group were expecting to see a total eclipse of the sun this morning.
Two ships have been making their way to a spot off Oeno Island, a tiny outcrop near Pitcairn.
The Pitcairn Islands Study Centre reports the remote location is considered to be the most favourable spot in the world for viewing the total eclipse.
