Solomons to hold conference on rural banking

7:19 am on 13 April 2005

The Central Bank of Solomon Islands will today hold a conference to look at ways of revitalising financial services in rural areas.

The conference aims to bring together about 100 business people and executive managers of commercial banks and credit unions, senior civil servants and NGOs.

The participants will hear international speakers of the World Bank Group and the Asian Development Bank and on the experience of partners from Papua New Guinea and Fiji.

The two-day conference is part of ongoing efforts to enhance economic growth and to find a way of making financial services accessible to more Solomon Islanders.
