Eight of the men charged over the disappearance of 680 thousand US dollars in missing compensation funds intended for the people of Malaita will appear in the Honiara Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Simon Mannie is scheduled to appear in court on April 26th, Malcolm Lake April 27th, Alex Bartlett on April 28th and Roland Timo on April 30th.

The 12 men were charged by the joint RSIP/PPF Corruption Targeting Team in connection with the missing funds paid by the National Government to the Province of Malaita.

The charges against the 12 men involve demanding money with menace and receiving the proceeds of a felony.

The money, which has never been recovered, was intended as compensation to the community for grievances arising from the tensions.
