Regional peace building workshop opens in Fiji

The first regional workshop on Peace-building and Conflict Prevention in the Pacific, involving the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and the United Nations got underway in the Fiji town of Nadi.

Over three days the workshop will review the most relevant challenges to peace facing the Pacific region and examine the security and peace-building needs of Pacific countries.

Delegates to the conference will be looking for practical recommendations to strengthen partnerships and ways of developing achievable near-term objectives to bolster security in the region.
