An MP from the Solomon Islands Western Province, Francis Zama, says his region must vigorously pursue independence from the rest of the country.
Mr Zama, a former finance minister, says the proposed Federal State system of government will not deliver the development wishes and aspirations of the people.
He told the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation that the proposed system will create is further years of frustration and wastage.
Mr Zama says the province has not benefited at all from the millions of dollars derived by the country through the extraction of its natural resources.
