Nearly a week after Niue went to the polls, winners are still unknown in two tied seats of the 20-seat assembly.
The Chief Electoral Officer, Togia Sioneholo, says the recount for the sixth common roll seat was supposed to have taken place this morning but one of the parties involved has objected to a procedural matter.
He says his office is awaiting for clarification on the matter from the High Court before proceeding any further.
Final scrutiny of the ballot papers in the Toi constituency has been completed and the result remains a tie.
Mr Sioneholo says the winner of the Toi seat will now be found by drawing a name out of a hat.
"If there is a convenient receptacle next to me, we'll just use it. Whether it's a rubbish bin or a hat or a bucket or whatever, it's just a matter of putting two names in a container and then I pull one out. I expect to do that tomorrow morning because we are tied up with the other one, the other tied seat."
