The White House has nominated a career foreign service officer to be the next US ambassador to Fiji.
The news agency, UPI, reports Larry Miles Dinger of Iowa has been nominated as ambassador to Fiji, Nauru, Tonga, Tuvalu and Kiribati.
The Bush administration's nomination is yet to be confirmed by the US Senate.
