The Temotu Provincial Hospital in eastern Solomon Islands will drastically reduce its services to the public over the next two days.
The province's Health Director, Dr Gunter, says frequent break-ins and robberies have forced him to reduce services to the public.
Over the last eighteen months thieves have stolen thousands of dollars worth of building materials from the site of a new maternity ward and childrens ward.
Dr Gunter says over the next two days only emergency cases will be admitted unless the thieves return what they have stolen.
He has also called on police and community leaders to speed up their efforts to apprehend the robbers.
