Fiji Police say they have yet to receive an official complaint from the Ministry of Education on the alleged molestation of 40 students by a high school teacher.

The Ministry of Education is reported to have received a letter from up to 40 students of a Davuilevu school alleging that they had been molested by a teacher there.

Fiji TV reports that the teacher has been transferred from the school to a desk job at the Education Ministry.

The ministry's acting chief executive officer Ram Chandar told Fiji TV that they were going to the police with the allegations.

Police spokeswoman Unaisi Vuniwaqa says although police are aware of the allegations they have yet to receive an official complaint.
