The Solomon Islands government has given a timeframe for sending emergency food supplies to the isolated Reef Islands.
It's now been two months since reports from the far eastern province of Temotu suggested people were going hungry because of a drought.
The National Disaster Management Office says that more than 44 tonnes of rice will be sent by the middle of next week.
The office director, Loti Yates, says the rice will supplement food reserves for about a month.
Mr Yates says the Reef Islands had experienced poor harvests owing to recent heavy rains.
