Fiji police are considering how best to protect the prime minister and two senior Cabinet colleagues, after the politicians were threatened in phone calls.

The prime minister, the home affairs minister, the attorney-general and senior officials were also targeted by threatening phone calls to their homes last night.

Police spokeswoman Inspector Unaisi Vuniwaqa says the force is reviewing the security it provides to those targeted.

"At present the Fiji police are looking into the security of those prominent people that have been targeted, and we have provided security for them, in terms of their safety."

The Prime Minister is being guarded by armed officers of the Police Personal Protection Unit
