The Northern Marianas Vistors Authority Board says it wants to grow the Russian segment of its tourism market.
The Board chairman, David Sablan, says CNMI's warm climate makes it an attractive destination for people from colder locations.
Figures show Russians visiting the Micronesia stay between three and four weeks compared to the Asian average of 3 days.
Mr Sablan says this shows Russia would be a good market to foster.
"It can be well marketed and we are perfectly willing to set aside probably half a million dollars the first year to develop that market. We'd like to spend say about a half a million to test out the market."
