A Solomon Islands accountant says all options are open as the Government conducts reviews prior to the planned privatisation of a number of State-owned enterprises.
The Government says it no longer has the money to continue being involved in commerce, and is eyeing privatisation as a means of encouraging the private sector and the jobs it brings.
Among the SOEs in line for possible privatisation are the Solomon Islands Electricity Authority, the water authority, Solomon Airlines and a printing firm.
An accountant, Matthew Wale says the Government is conducting a number of reviews aimed at pinpointing the best ways of achieving objectives for the businesses.
Mr Wale, a consultant in the review process, says it's not clear yet whether full or partial privatisation will be sought.
"The Government may have to settle for the fact that it may not fully privatise, it may partially privatise, or it may still fully control and own some of these SOEs, but maybe look at different frameworks to have them operate a whole lot more sustainably or a whole lot better than they have in the past. So I think all options are open."
