The Asian Development Bank says the Tuvalu Trust Fund is considered the most successful public fund in the Pacific.

In a report it says the fund has gained a reputation as a model for the effective use of trust funds for small island state economic development.

The Tuvalu Trust Fund was established in 1987 through a multilateral international agreement between Tuvalu, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Australia.

The fund was initially set up with twenty one million US dollars to contribute to the financial stability of Tuvalu.

It was worth 63 million US dollars at the end of 2004.
