Fiji police have extended their search for three missing teenage girls in the Rakiraki area to the phone contacts of the serial rapist last seen with them.

Dip Chand admitted in the Rakiraki magistrate's court yesterday that he has raped three others girls on ten occasions between 2001 and last month.

Most of the rapes of the girls aged 11, 16 and 17 occurred on Malake Island where Chand took the three other girls who went missing ten 10 days ago.

The girls were all known to him, lived in the same vicinity and some were his relatives.

Chand had kept the raped girls quiet by threatening them with death if they made the incidents public.

But they came forward when police began questioning people in Naria in Rakiraki following the disappearance of three sisters aged 17, 18 and 19 who had gone fishing with Chand who was a family friend.

Police are now questioning several men whom Chand called from his mobile phone on the day the three went missing.

While Chand is in custody pending sentencing for the earlier rapes, no trace has yet been found of the three missing girls.
