Local level government presidents in the Papua New Guinea province of Madang have served Governor James Yali a notice of dismissal
The National newspaper reports the presidents have nominated Member for Usino Bundi Peter Yama as alternate governor for Madang
A spokesman for the group, Paul Yawar, says the move is in the best interest of the people of Madang.
Mr Yawar said Mr Yali has been in trouble with the law and dismissal as governor would allow him some time and space to sort out his problems.
