Forum leaders hold meeting on progress over draft Pacific Plan

12:41 pm on 11 July 2005

The secretary general of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, Greg Urwin, says they're updating leaders on the draft Pacific Plan in Wellington tonight.

The New Zealand Prime Minister, Helen Clark, the Pacific Forum's current chair, Samoa Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele, Papua New Guinea's leader Sir Michael Somare, and the Marshall Islands president, Kessai Note, will meet to assess progress.

This follows issues being raised at public consultations on the draft, which has now been up for discussions in all but 2 Forum countries.

Mr Urwin says he's confident that by the time the Forum summit is held in October they will have concrete proposals ready to go.
