RAMSI Special Coordinator James Batley has welcomed a senior Fiji appointment to the Office of the Special Coordinator.

Mataiasi Masiverata Lomaloma is the new Assistant Special Coordinator of RAMSI, replacing Sekove Naqiolevu who took up a position as a judge of the High Court of Solomon Islands in April.

Mr Batley said the appointment of Mr Lomaloma underlines the strong commitment by Fiji to the mission across all three elements of the operation - civilian, military and police.

Mr Lomaloma brings more than 20 years experience in the military and 15 years experience in the civil service to the position.
