An earthquake shook the Big Island of Hawai'i early this morning but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre in Honolulu says the magnitude 5.5 quake, was centered in the Pacific Ocean, about 50 kilometres north east of Laupahoehoe along the Hamakua Coast on the Big Island.
The center said no tsunami was expected, but some areas may have experienced strong shaking.
