Polynesian Blue not yet ready for flights to US

Polynesian Blue, the joint venture between Virgin Blue and Polynesian Airlines might not fly to the United States when it launches its operations in October.

At present Polynesian flies weekly from Apia to Honolulu.

Pacific Blue chief executive Tony Marks, representing the Virgin Blue

group, told the Samoa Observer that negotiations are underway and a

decision will be made in "two to three weeks".

He says they are studying the profitability of the Apia-Hawaii route and have been making inquiries about Polynesian's experience on the route.

Sources say Polynesian Blue also has to seek landing rights because

Polynesian's American landing rights are not automatically transferable

to the new joint venture.
