A ruling by Samoa's Land and Titles Court is believed to have led to a fire which burned down the home of a judge.

The Samoa Observer reports the house, belonging to Judge Misa Iuli Pita Anae, was destroyed last Friday.

Sources said the fire was the result of a court ruling in a long standing dispute between Misa Iuli and other members of the Misa family.

The judge had been banned from the village but a ruling by the Lands and Titles court ruled that he should be allowed to return home on the same day the blaze occured.

Its understood the village has banned some chiefs from the village as a result of the fire.
