A Polynesian Intervention Group vessel, a French Navy Gardian plane and two fishing vessels had been searching in for the pair in the Tuamotu archipelago.

The boat was reported missing on Saturday after leaving Hikueru atoll for Makemo to pick up two more people.

The news agency, Tahitipresse, reports the two people are now being taken to Tahiti.
