Air Pacific announces moves into domestic market

Fiji's national airline, Air Pacific, is planning to resume flying on domestic routes after more than 25 years of operating only internationally.

The Fiji Sun quotes Air Pacific's managing director, John Campbell, as saying they will buy modern turboprop aircraft or regional jets suitable for Fiji's airfields and those of nearby island countries.

Mr Campbell says the full details have yet to be worked out but it's hoped to begin domestic services by December.

Air Pacific was formed as Fiji Airways in the late 1940s but withdrew from domestic services to concentrate on international flying in the late 1970s.
