American Samoa's Chief Immigration Officer, Ufuti Fa'afetai Ieremia, has congratulated the village of Aoloau for taking effective action in assisting the department with the problem of overstayers.

The village council recently deported seven Samoan citizens who were discovered staying in the village illegally.

Ufuti says he believes the issue of illegal overstayers in the territory is a community responsibility and that every village should implement actions like those at Aoloau
