Striking nurses in Fiji agree to return to work

10:43 pm on 8 August 2005

Fiji's striking nurses have agreed to return to work immediately.

Thirteen hundred nurses have been striking for the past five days but agreed late on Monday evening to go back to work, with most expected to return by Tuesday monring.

Kuini Lutua of the Fiji Nurses Association says they have had all of their grievances resolved satisfactorily.

She says she understands that investigations have begun after the Labour Minister declared the strike illegal but hopes he will withdraw the declaration given they have entered into the settlement in good faith.
