Lawyers for Nauru landowners say they're acting as fast as they can in a financial claim against the government because of the hardship they claim their clients are suffering.
Nauru landowners have brought a case in Australia to claim the bulk of 74 million US dollars from the Nauru Phosphate Royalties Trust; funds which have been left over after the liquidation sale of Nauru assets.
The lawyer acting for the landowners, Michael Gaylard, says a quarrel over jurisdiction has postponed the case.
"We're doing whatever we can to speed up the process. The court is aware because there's an affidavit that's been filed, setting out the details of the hardship being suffered by the landowners, with no money being paid to them and nothing to live with."
Mr Gaylard says the next hearing will be on the second of September.
