The King of Tonga and New Zealand politicians have been invited to the Auckland Tongan community's talks with representatives of striking civil servants this weekend.

The Auckland lawyer, Nalesoni Tupou, has organised the meeting, where he says everyone will get the opportunity to speak, including the Tongan Royal Family.

It is understood the independent Tongan MP Clive Edwards, who has a seat in Tongatapu, will also be at the meeting.

Meanwhile, a New Zealand mediation team which flew to Tonga yesterday has so far failed to get the unions to agree to full discussions
