In the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas a US based commercial fishing company has secured permits for long-line fishing.
Commerce officer Glen Manglona said that the operator, Lady Kimberly, is applying for a loan guarantee from the Commonwealth Development Authority.
He said company representatives will visit Saipan next month.
The Saipan Tribune reports Mr Manglona as saying the company would be selling its products to the US mainland and Japan.
