Fiji waste paper recycled in Vietnam

A major Fiji business has started exporting waste paper for recycling to reduce the accumulation of rubbish.

The Fiji Times reports that Punja and Sons subsidiary, Combined Manufacturing Limited, collects at least 12 tonnes of waste paper each month and exports it to New Zealand.

From New Zealand the paper is sent in larger consignments to Vietnam where it is recycled.

Most of the current waste comes from the company's cardboard manufacturing operations but it plans to collect more waster paper from other sources around Fiji for export.

Its manager, Shri Krishna, says this is a non profit making exercise for the good of the environment but they hope to break even in the future.
