ILO funds programme to reduce Solomon's unemployment

10:16 am on 6 September 2005

The International Labour Organisation is funding a pilot project to address the problem of unemployment in the Solomon Islands capital.

The ILO's Project Assistant, John Bosco, says after two weeks of training in various areas, participants are given start-up equipment, such as mechanical tools and cooking utensils, to help them to make a living.

He says he will monitor and evaluate the progress of these small business projects before reporting on progress to the Suva branch of the ILO.
