The district court in Guam has charged a 34-year-old Chinese man with four counts of people smuggling.
KU-AM television news reports Xiao Feng Lin is being held in the custody of the US Marshals.
Mr Lin is accused of bringing at least four Chinese citizens into Guam on a boat registered in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
Four passengers were arrested and information was filed against them alleging they concealed information about entering the United States illegally.
Mr Lin is scheduled to go to trial in November.
