American Samoa prepares to trial wind energy production

With fuel costs soaring, officials of the American Samoa Power Authority, or ASPA, are actively pursuing alternative energy sources to lessen the dependence on fuel for electricity production.

ASPA is seeking help from SOPAC, the South Pacific Applied Geoscience Commission over to help with explore funding and expertise to develop wind energy.

The Chief Operations Officer, Fonoti Perelini Perelini, says they have isolated three sites where wind energy trials will be carried out.
