The American Samoan governor, Togiola Tulafono, and officials of the FIFA soccer federation have signed a lease agreement, giving a portion of Pago Pago Park to FIFA to be developed for soccer training and games.

Togiola said this is one of the first things for the youth of American Samoa and the beginning of a greater relationship and a renewed effort for training facilities, enjoyment and healthy living.

The chairman of the American Samoa Football Association-Normalization Committee, David Brand, says the group and FIFA appreciate the willingness and efforts to support football.

The agreement is part of attaining the Goal Project, an initiative by FIFA to assist countries around the world to develop soccer.
