The Chairman of the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industries says the government needs to consult more with the business sector if it is serious about the private sector being the engine of growth.
The Chairman of SICCI, Peter Goodwin, says in the past, communication between the government and the private sector has been lacking.
"Despite the fact that we've seen a positive change and forward movement here, it's not sufficient yet. I think government has many problems to deal with and those problems haven't been problems that have emerged in the last couple of weeks, they've been there for years. It's going to take a while to get these things ironed out."
Mr Goodwin says the government should have learnt from the consultation process done for the new Investment bill when it had to be taken back to the drawing board.
He says if the economy is to grow it will be through the private sector.
