No radar at PNG's main international airport - report

12:21 pm on 26 October 2005

Reports from Papua New Guinea say the radar at the international airport in the capital, Port Moresby, has been removed.

The National newspaper reports the antenna of the radar at Jackson Airport was removed because it was overdue for maintenance.

It's not known whether this will affect the aircraft carrying Pacific Island leaders and their delegations who're in Port Moresby for their annual summit.

Air traffic control couldn't be reached for comment.
