Samoa prime minister urges ministers not to fly Air NZ

8:05 am on 5 November 2005

The Samoan prime minister Tuilaepa Sailele says all cabinet ministers should fly with Polynesian Blue even though the airline doesn't have a business class.

The PM was reacting to statements by the deputy opposition leader Asiata Saleimoa Vaai.

The Samoa Observer reports Asiata saying that all ministers should fly Polynesian Blue for travel to and from New Zealand and Australia.

He said the government should have a policy prohibiting ministers from travelling with Air New Zealand.

Asiata said that since Air New Zealand has a business class and Polynesian Blue doesn't, he's sure Air New Zealand would be the airline of choice for them.

The PM responded by saying that all ministers should fly with Polynesian Blue, because it's the government's plane.
