Solomons government and agencies owe provident fund more than US$10m

Statutory bodies, state-owned enterprises and provincial governments owe the Solomon Islands Provident Fund more than US$10 million.

The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation reports the Finance Minister Peter Boyers told parliament that statutory bodies owed the national provident fund more than US$3 million in loans and contributions.

Mr Boyers says state-owned enterprises owe nearly US$4 million.

Of the seven state-owned enterprises, all but Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau, has contribution arrears, with the biggest from the Solomon Islands College of Higher Education.

Of the provinces, Western and Malaita Provinces owed the fund a total loan of over US$2 million.
