Police in Papua New Guinea's second city of Lae are investigating the murder of the Australian general manager of the country's largest poultry supplier, Zenag Chicken.

The body of Russell Green, who was 50, was found with stab wounds on the verandah of his home on Tuesday night.

Eight expatriates are said to have been killed in Lae in the past five years.

The provincial governor Luther Wenge says the killings must stop.
